Claire's Diary

  1. My first 4 sessions of Arasys have been really positive. As a sufferer of Endometriosis I experience pain on a regular basis! Other symptoms include bloating, bladder and bowel issues as well as fatigue. Soon after my first two treatments I noticed that my nighttime toilet trips had ceased which in turn has given me a good nights sleep! I feel very relaxed after my visits to the clinic which is also important to my wellbeing. Phil is very understanding and has made sure that I am comfortable throughout the sessions. I can feel my pelvic muscles working after a session which is fab, I do worry about prolapse! It's also a fab way it getting my muscles working again after so much time spent indoors due to surgeries, fatigue and strong painkillers. I am definitely less bloated too. I look forward to seeing how the rest of the sessions affect my symptoms.

  2. I had my 5th session today with Phil. My last session was 6 days ago so a slightly longer timeframe than I have been normally, usually twice a week. I have noticed that in the past couple of days my nocturnal toilet trips have started again, these seemed to stop whilst I was having the treatment twice a week. I wonder if there's something in keeping the pelvic muscles strong? After today's session I am a little sore around my lower back but we haven't used the treatment in that area as yet so I think its the initial muscle activity just aching as if I had done some exercises! It's actually good to know they are working! I'm hoping that I'll sleep through tonight without any disturbance from my bladder - fingers crossed! I've got another session at 10am tomorrow so if I see an improvement in my bladder symptoms over the next few days then surely it must be something to do with the treatment? I'm looking forward to seeing what happens tonight anyway! Also, I didn't take my normal 90 minute power nap today which is unlike me. I did have work to do but I didn't feel the 'endo tired' until about 6pm. It usually catches me by 2pm!

  3. Had my session again yesterday, my back was still a bit sore but it was definitely muscular from working the muscles the day before. I really like the feeling of the arasys on my lower back as it feel like a good massage! Again I left feeling really relaxed and had a very productive day! I didn't have an afternoon sleep as usual, partly due to working but I didn't feel as tired as I normally would. My bladder function is slowly improving again with the last 2 treatments and I'm getting a decent nights sleep at last!

  4. It's been over a week since my last treatment now. Unfortunately as I'm in Spain I've struggled to connect to the Internet! A lot to catch up on! So I've have my 6 arasys treatments and each time I have the treatment it seems to greatly improve my bladder function! Plus my sleeping pattern has really improved. I am finding however that my symptoms seem to return after a week or so without the treatment. I'm not sure why this is. Maybe I need to keep my muscles working around the pelvic area at least once a week to keep the functionality at its best. I've also noticed that my pain levels decrease when I'm keeping on top of the treatments, I don't get the dragging pains half as much and my energy levels are so much better. The past couple of days I've really missed the arasys as I've had some terrible cramping and bowel issues, however I think that could be due to a number of things and not just necessarily the Endo or period symptoms. I have certainly felt more able to do daily exercise and take part in activities/walking around most of the day, but I did end up burning myself out yesterday and needed to take a complete rest day. Before the arasys however I probably wouldn't have managed to get out daily. Also I'm not sleeping very well this week, about 2-4 hours a night but that is down to an uncomfortable bed and a humid apartment that weirdly d

  5. Doesn't have air conditioning! I am really looking forward to my return to England and having my next arasys treatment, I think it'll really improve my pain in my back and my bladder/bowel function. My period has been a bit late also this month but that has probably happened due to the intense heat and change in habit/eating and drinking. I am definitely seeing an improvement upon regular treatments and an increase in symptoms once I pass a week without a session. I'll be interested to see how I feel on Wednesday after my next treatment following on from the difficult and painful last three days! It would be great to have a portable arasys to take with me!

  6. This week I've had two Arasys treatments, it was great to have the treatment in my back area as I've been having some lower back pain. It feels so much better during the treatment, like a good massage! I've used tens machines in the past and it has a similar effect in terms of instant relief! Love it. Again, my bladder seems strengthened, I'm not going to the toilet as frequently for miniature wee's, when I go I actually have a full bladder and am sleeping much better this week, in fact more so than usual but I think my holiday and lack of sleep with the heat could be adding to the tiredness this week. Still, whatever it is its great to be sleeping through, something I really need as an Endo sister! My bowel habits have been better too since the two treatments this week. I've started having normal movements rather than cramping and having several attempts in the day! Sorry to be so honest but I think I need to be completely honest in order to record the results! Again, after the treatment I was super relaxed, I always feel like having a nap on the chair during & after treatment. Nothing like feeling completely relaxed either to start the day off positively! Next session in a couple of days now. Also, we measured me after the last session which was my 10th and I've lost a total of 11 inches from my abdomen area which is amazing as I struggle with my weight and always have done since going on the pill for heavy periods at 14. It's really increased my self confidence actually which is really good for me when I'm feeling a bit flabby and unattractive some of the time. Thanks to Phil for making me feel so great this last week!

  7. Hi everyone! I had my arasys treatment again on Tuesday this week. I've still been fairly energetic as opposed to my normal self, I've managed to have 2 full days this week without having my usual hour power nap. Great stuff! It's been so wonderful being able to have a full day without having to disappear for a power nap, especially as I've been working away in London at our head office and realistically I wouldn't have anywhere I could nap. Nevertheless, I still maintained my energy levels until the evening when I managed to get to my hotel room so I'm proud of myself! I've not missed more than one nap day in a week in over 4 years.. Yes, 4 years!
So, the pain levels.. I'm not experiencing any pain in my abdomen or legs at all at the moment, however I am having some back pain still although this has been reduced this week. I've gone from a 7 to a 4 on the pain scale with the back pain so that is definitely an improvement. Especially as I need to be fairly active at the moment with moving house and travelling with work. I have even managed to have some 'personal time' shall we say with my other half this week which is usually out of the question due to my fatigue and pain during 'it'! Things seem to be stabilising again now I've had at least one treatment per week; I definitely noticed a decrease in wellbeing during my holiday where I had a break between treatments of about 2 weeks. I'm in the process of getting my consultant to view these blogs in order to alert health colleagues that the arasys treatment seems to be having a hugely positive impact on the Endo related issues. Oh, my night time toilet trips have been less still when having ongoing treatment.. My body is very happy to be getting a decent unbroken sleep!

  8. Well.. I've been without arasys for a week or so now, unfotunately I've been a bit poorly with a cold and have been staying at my lovely mum's house! In the past few days I've had some spotting which hasn't happened for a while, it could be a change in treatments though. I've still got my energy though, I'm not having as many naps or they are shorter which is great! My stamina is increasing due to being physically and as a result, mentally stronger from the ability to exercise more and stay active. Even though I've been super busy with the added extra of a cold, I feel nite energised than I've done for years!

  9. I'm now at the end of my arasys trial and what an interesting and positive experience its been! After every arasys session I have found myself more relaxed, have more energy and stamina and a big positive for me was the noticeable decease in night time weeing! I guess the knock on effect of that would be proper, quality, healing sleep which in turn then impacts on the body as a whole. Before starting the arasys treatment I was a bit nervous as to what I might feel during and after, however I can safely say that I have not experienced any negative effects whatsoever. I would definitely recommend Arasys as an alternative therapy from personal experience, however we must remember that reaction to treatment is very individual, as is the nature of Endometriosis. I have not experienced much in the way of pain relief as such but I did find that it felt very similar to a tens machine but on a grander scale, and when I suffered lower back pain the arasys was actually quite soothing. Many thanks to Phil for investing his time and money into such an important trial, it has given another option to women with endometriosis, the best part is that it is non surgical and non medicinal! Always a good thing for chronic endo patients! Lets hope that it gets further research and healthcare professionals take an interest so it can be recognised as an alternative therapy for endo!
